A Terrific Weekend Adventure
A downloadable game
Welcome to "A Terrific Weekend Adventure," where I invite you to enter a world of nostalgia created for the ZX Spectrum.
As you embark on this retro journey, you'll find yourself immersed in a universe inspired by the timeless Enid Blyton-style novels of days gone by.
With "A Terrific Weekend Adventure," my idea was to pay homage to those old types of stories. And so, naturally, you'll find this ZX Spectrum adventure game filled with the usual Blyton cliches: the summer holidays, the secret tunnels, the gypsies, and of course the smugglers were not forgotten.
The idea for this game/story, has been bouncing around for years in my imagination, but when I found the Graphic Adventure Creator, I finally could bring it to life. The story unfolded naturally as I built the game, and before I knew it, I had a fully fleshed-out narrative ready to be told; not just for the game but, to my surprise, also for a book.
It's incredible how seamlessly the game has transitioned into a fully realized story. And so, if you're looking for an old-style text adventure where - "the key" - usually "unlocks the door," - join me on this quest, where every decision you make shapes the course of an adventure which i tried to make as most of an open world , type concept as it was possible to do in GAC.
"A Terrific Weekend Adventure" awaits, ready to whisk you away to a world of days gone by where the magic of those childhood days still exist.
Drawing from the charm of Blyton's books, hopefully this has translated into the creation of a world brimming with mystery and excitement for the player/reader.
Not as an imitation of course; as that would be a foolish thing to try, but as an honest homage to the style, and an attempt to capture that old adventure feeling for everyone out there who, like me, still keeps going back to those books, no matter how up in age we are.
The world of Philip and Anne is now built. As you can see from the map, the village of Seaview is open to being the setting for new adventures, where new secrets will unfold and new locations to the map will be added.
I can already reveal that the second Seaview ZX Game is now half-written ( so is the second book ), so if this first game ( and first book ) are well received, I can guarantee that many more adventures set in this 1950s Seawiew region are coming in the near future as I have several ideas of how to continue this whole nostalgic retro universe.

It was surprisingly easy to transition the plot points I had for years inside my imagination from a ZX Spectrum game-play structure into a narrated story.
I have the GAC to thank for it, and I can't wait to share this and many more Seaview adventures with you in multiple formats.
I hope you enjoy this game as much as I had fun creating it.
